It was the expectation in compiling this site to provide some hope and direction to families who are just beginning the journey through the many systems you will encounter when facing a possible or confirmed diagnosis of ASD (autism spectrum disorder).

While the vast amount of resources can seem overwhelming there is a map of sorts to follow. Take your time in reading and digesting articles and papers; there is a lot to absorb. By all means, join some of the online or local groups for ideas and encouragement. Support comes in many shapes. Whether you need to vent or find information these groups can provide a sense of community and shelter in the storm.

Remember your child is first and foremost a child -- a child with autism. Like every child he has many limitations and many strengths. Choose to concentrate on what he can do and work with his given abilities. You are his only voice; he needs you to be his advocate and pilot his way through all the channels.

Resource Guide

Volumes of resources and practical advice from a parents point of view on CD Covering many topics including:

Lending Library

Imagine getting the news that your child is affected by Autism. In the US, one child in every 150 is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder every year. That means every 20 minutes a new diagnosis - making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined.

As common as it is, the general public still remains largely in the dark about the challenges relating to Autism.

Now imagine you’re a parent reeling and confused about what to do next. Your best defense is a good offense: educate yourself and learn facts about autism. With information, you will be more capable of making the right choices for your child.

Patrick’s Rainbow Resource Center is committed to connecting local families with information and resources. Putting the knowledge into to hands of families lets them make educated decisions.

The Lending Library will loan up to 3 books at a time to local parents without having to purchase these oftentimes expensive specialized publications.
